Part of the State University of New York system, Suffolk County Community College is not just another community college in your town. With more than 60 different programs of study, a wide range of extra-curricular activities, athletic teams and four different campuses to choose from, Suffolk County Community College has something to offer everyone.
Centrally located on Long Island, the oldest of the campuses is the Ammerman Campus in Selden, New York. Opened in 1961, in an old tuberculosis sanitarium, this campus has become one of the major landmarks in Suffolk County. This campus is located in an area where there are many communities that can take advantage of all that they have to offer. They offer a wide selection of programs to choose from. Whether you are interested in computers, performing arts, health care programs, or the sciences, the Suffolk County Community College Ammerman Campus has a lot to offer. This is made even better by state of the art computer and automotive facilities, fully equipped studios for radio and television, and an outstanding training facility for students in the field of Fitness.
The Grant Campus located in Brentwood, New York was opened in 1974. Like the other campuses of Suffolk County Community College, they have state of the art facilities for students to take advantage of. They offer programs in Occupational Therapy Assisting, Veterinary Sciences, Paralegal Studies, Business and Liberal Arts. What sets them apart from the other campuses is their Health, Sports and Education Center. Here they offer classes in many programs for health and technology. They also hold classes for the Suffolk County Police Academy on the campus. It is this center that also houses a pool, field house and fitness center. They are the only campus that offers lacrosse, track and field and indoor track teams. If you are looking for a campus that offers more than just education, then the Grant Campus is a place for you to check out.
The third campus of Suffolk County Community College is the Eastern Campus at Riverhead. This campus was opened in 1977 and is located the furthest east in rural Long Island. While it is the smallest of the three campuses, they still have a lot to offer students. With a wide range of liberal art courses and business programs, they don’t stop here. At this campus you can pursue your dreams in the culinary Arts, Graphic Design and Computer Arts as well as interior Design and Photographic Imaging.
The newest of the campuses is called the Sayville Downtown Center. This was opened in 2006 and offers continuing education classes. This campus located on the southern side of Long Island minutes from the Great South Bay this campus is perfect for professionals and working people to take professional continuing education courses to meet requirements for licenses or just to enhance their current skills. It was definitely a well thought out addition to Suffolk County Community College.
